The most impressive and powerfull northern light I have ever witnessed in Oslo. The forest was lit up by the auroraThis sequence from Besseggen in Jotunheimen was rather disappointing. I had walked many hours (some of them in darkness) during the night to capture the sunrise-which never came -despite a promising weather forcast. This was not the only disappointment though. My left leg which I injured 6 weeks before this trip got even worse and ruined a lot of my initial plans. I didn´t expect that =(This is perhaps the most lucky sequence in the movie. I was watching tv when I suddenly saw the aurora in the sky. Quickly I grabbed the camera equipment and ran to a smal lake 5 minuttes from my home.Besseggen was undoubtedly the most inhospitable location when I shot Dynamic Nature. Not only was the temperature around freezing, the wind was also rather horrible. In the end I found myself counting frames the camera captured as the combination of low temperature and strong wind was unbearable. Nedless to say, I didn´t hesitate to leave this arctic outpost when I was finished.Snow showers approaching on Valdresflye in Jotunheimen. Notice the beautiful autumn colors.Dynamic Perception dolly and 5dmk2 in action on top of Dalsnibba in Geiranger in very strong windview from Gaustatoppen 1883m/6177ftView from Gaustatoppen 1883m/6177 ft. This mountain was not part of my initial plan, but when I injued my left leg and couldn´t walk for many weeks, Gaustatoppen turned out to be an obvious choice, as I could hike with the cable railway to 1800 meters above sealevel-just below the summit.Sunset from Gyrihaugen (682m 2237 ft)- my favourite location in Nordmarka (outside Oslo).I had a bit of luck when I shot this sequence as I was
surrounded by rain showers and thunder. one of the few places it didn´t start to rain was at my location-lucky me =)Sunrise seen from Valdresflya in Jotunheimen. The hugh mountain in the background is Besshøe 2258m/7408ft5dMK2 in early morning action at the famous Besseggen ridgeThe beautiful Nigardsbreen Glacier is a branch of continental Europe´s larges glacier- Jostedalsbreen. Notice the difference between summer and winter. This reindeer was probably wondering what I was doing 03:00 in the morning. click on the next image to see why...Clouds and wind rapidly approaching at Sjodalsvatnet in JotunheimenThis image is from Færderseilasen (sailboat regatta). Usually it is raining when this regatta take place- so I have waited 3 years to capture this sequence.Fantastic view!from fog ... (click on the next image)... to a sunset above the clouds in 4 minuttes (see previous image to notice the difference)Andromeda Galaxy is our galactic neigbour 2.5 million light-years from Earth. This sequence was a deliberately planned. I knew exactly where Andromeda galaxy would show up. I used the Enhanced Rotary Table to tilt the camera upwards.Dynamic Perception Dolly and 5dMK2 in action on GaustatoppenMy 5dMK2 and Dynamic Perception dolly in action on the summit of Gaustatoppen (1883m/6177ft). It is 1600 meters down to the valley floor.Vettisfossen in Jotunheimen is the tallest frefalling unregulated waterfall in Norway (275m/902ft). The weather was very unsettled with lots of rain showers within few minuttes, so I had to wipe my camera lense many times to get rid of the water. Finally, after about 40 attempts- I captured one usefull sequence. I used a video head to tilt the camera downwards. This sequence from Dalsnibba was difficult to capture and didn´t reach its full potensial due to very strong winds. I had found a rather exposed spot for the Dynamic Perception dolly in advance- but had to cancel the idea as I was afraid the dolly rig and camera equippment would tip over or fall of the mountain in the strong wind.Sleeping outside/waiting for the first rays of sunshine on the mighty Trollveggen (Troll wall)Early morning at lake Gjende- just below the famous Besseggen ridge in JotunheimenTrollveggen (Troll wall) reflected in a little pond. Actually, this is a one of very few frames from a sequence which which wasn´t ruined by strong wind. I always prefer calm water when I shot scenes like this, so this sequence was never used in Dynamic Nature unfortunatelyI was really lucky with the light and weather. Just 20 minutes after I had shot the opening sequence in Dynamic Nature, the rain started to pour down. This image was captured on top of Sognefjellet mountainpass in the end of May- I doubt that I have seen so much snow before.Lunar eclipse seen from Frognerseteren above Oslo. The moon phases (from new to full moon) which I captured in less than 1 hour would have taken 14 1/2 days under normal conditionsA frame from a sequence which I didn´t use in Dynamic Nature. The lack of clouds ruined this sequence.A behind the scenes shot from AurlandA behind the scenes shot from AurlandA frame from a sequence which I didn´t use. This image was captured in the end of May- believe it or not.Hurrungane alpenglowA behind the scenes shot from Eidsfjord in Hardanger
